We Have a Podcast
Tom Rawlings and I recorded a six-part podcast series for YSO Academy, and all six episodes are now available. The series is called “Cultivating a Culture of Safety.” If you advise youth-serving organizations, or if you are an administrator working through child protection policy development, this series covers the full process.
The six episodes run 26 to 34 minutes each and address these topics:
Part 1: The Foundation of Safety covers the core principles behind a strong child protection program and a planning timeline.
Part 2: Building Your Child Protection Dream Team covers who needs to be in the room when your organization develops its policies.
Part 3: Drafting Strong Child Protection Policies addresses why adapting policies to your organization matters more than borrowing them wholesale from another source.
Part 4: Partnering for Success covers working with outside experts during the policy development process.
Part 5: Putting It All Together addresses staff training and stakeholder communication.
Part 6: When the Worst Happens covers response to a serious incident or allegation, including victim support, investigation, and communication with authorities and your community.
You can listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Listen as you have time, or assign specific episodes to colleagues working through a particular piece of the process.
